Day Tripping to Avalon Lavender Farm

Cue “Lavender Haze” by Taylor Swift…

I had the opportunity to visit Avalon Lavender Farm in Orangeville on Saturday. It’s about an hour and a half outside of Toronto and a perfect place for a day trip out of the city.

And did I mention it’s a great place to live out your soft girl summer fantasy?

I want to talk about this dress. It’s from J. Crew, but that’s also not the whole truth. My Mum and I love to take trips from Halifax to Maine to do some cross-border shopping. One of our favourite places to shop while in Maine is Marden’s, a surplus department store. They’re located throughout the state, and shopping there is a true treasure hunt.

Last year, I got this J. Crew dress from Marden’s at a crazy good discount. There was a ton of J. Crew clothing, and - extremely exciting for me - pieces from the re-issued Target Design for Everyone collection. So, when I was planning what to wear this weekend, I knew this blue-and-white stripe would look fabulous against all the gorgeous purples.

I love this thrifted Anthropologie hat for summer. I’m not always a big hat person - I feel like my head is always too small! The brim on this straw hat isn’t too wide, and it’s great for a day at the beach, or in this case, a slightly rainy day in the country.

Since there was going to be a lot of walking, I opted for my Puma sneakers. They got a little muddy from the rain, but they wipe clean easily.

I love the square neckline of the dress, so I chose not to wear a necklace here. Instead, I went with my fave Fossil watch and The Sweet Magnolia Angela hoops. I recently reorganized my jewelry and found a Baublebar chain bracelet that I was gifted from back in my Her Campus editor days (almost ten years ago…).

Now let’s talk about the tote. It’s absolutely massive (ludicrously capacious, one might say) and I love it. I picked it up last weekend on a trip to Buffalo with my friends. It’s by Hearth & Hand with Magnolia, from Target. My weakness is a grid/windowpane pattern, and it’s going to be a perfect beach/shopping/everything tote.

A huge thank you to Avalon Lavender Farm for hosting us. If you want to take an easy summer day trip, definitely give them a visit!
