A ‘70s Inspired Weekend in Tampa

In late April I was in Tampa, Florida for my sister’s bachelorette party!

We had an amazing weekend staying at Hotel Haya in Ybor City. I knew once the party had settled on a weekend of sun in Florida, I wanted to wear something that felt retro, with warm colours and patterns that make me think of the 1970s.

Usually for me, Florida conjures up images of dressing to go to Walt Disney World (where I have been an obscene amount of times) or loud Lilly Pulitzer prints (of which I own a few). For this trip, I went for roomy, flowy fabrics and classic dots and stripes.

I love this Mango jumpsuit (purchased from Hudson’s Bay) for its ‘70s vibes with the bell bottoms and the belt. I kind of felt like I was an extra in Daisy Jones and the Six (as someone who has been riding the Camila Morrone train since 2018, the series was a great moment for me).

The bag is a Coach Legacy Stripe Glam Tote from Poshmark. I am actually obsessed with Coach’s Poppy line from the late 2000s. It was the moment when Coach stopped being a place my mum shopped and started being cool. I remember wanting a Legacy Stripe bag so bad, but since I was 13 or 14 I definitely could not afford one! So last year, I decided to buy one of my own secondhand. It coordinates so well with the jumpsuit, and went with basically every outfit I wore on this trip!

The shoes are thrifted from ASOS. I don’t usually shop at ASOS, but knew these shoes were something good. The platforms really contributed to the ‘70s look I wanted to achieve, and are also helpful when you’re short like me!

I kept the accessories simple since the jumpsuit is quite the statement. I wore my everyday Fossil watch (again purchased from Hudson’s Bay) and simple gold-filled hoop earrings from The Sweet Magnolia, a local luxury jewelry brand here in Toronto.

We had an incredible time celebrating my sister, and as I write this I am so excited to be in Halifax next week for the wedding festivities!
